Staff Hardware Engineer

We are hiring a Staff Hardware Engineer, who will be Part of the System Engineering team. This particular position involves providing, at Hardware level, Rolling Wireless product expertise, system integration knowledge and HW troubleshooting skills to support our support line activity to the customer.

Position / Assignment Purpose
Support hardware-related questions, issues and requirements reported by customers and monitor them through our database.
Key Accountabilities / Statement of Work

Support Line:

  • Support the customers during the integration phase of Rolling Wireless products, analysing the main issues faced during the integration phase.
  • Set pertinent reproduction scenario of the issue reported by the customer to find the root cause.
  • Investigate the issue in close collaboration with other team members or platforms development engineers to make sure the most optimized solution will be integrated for each reported issue.
  • Communicate investigation progress at regular intervals to the customer, PM or FAE.
  • Provide detailed explanations to the customer of what the problem was and which solution has been implemented.
  • Perform customer application’s HW Design Review.
  • Return of Experience: update/create all relevant documentations to prevent customers to face similar issues in the future.

Customer project management:

  • Support strategic customers while building up their HW design in the most optimized way.
  • Work in close relationship with Customers’ R&D team.
  • Provide all necessary HW integration advises.
  • Troubleshooting support to ensure the customer application will be ready on schedule and with expected Quality level.

Advanced Engineering:

  • Support customers performing the pre-certifications of their HW designs.
  • Support customers during their certification phase.
  • Design of Prove of Concepts (POCs) when/if needed.
  • Create application notes for guiding the customers on key features/subjects related to wireless technologies.

Quality:

  • Complies and contributes to quality improvement policy defined at corporate and direction level.
  • Systematically use projects, actions return of experience to propose and implement, when applicable, continuous improvement plan.

Required Experience

Experience and autonomy in issues investigation/resolution.

Required Skills and Competencies
  • Knowledge/expertise in Baseband, Radio Frequency and Wireless technologies
  • Knowledge/expertise in GNSS solution
  • Knowledge/expertise in hardware platforms and peripherals (PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART..)
  • Knowledge/expertise in hardware schematics for design review
  • Overall system view of the HW design of embedded solutions
  • Knowledge in cellular systems (2G, 3G, 4G and 5G, V2X, Bluetooth, WiFi ...)
  • Knowledge in thermal constraint of platform/module
  • Knowledge in manufacturing process and test
  • Issue debugging skills in HW investigation procedure (FA/RMA)
  • Skills in documentation writing / review
  • Synthesis mind and reporting skills
  • Customer communication and management
  • English communication
  • Expertise in baseband, Radio Frequency and Wireless technologies is a plus
  • Knowledge in eCall and ERA Glonass solutions is a plus
