Senior Hardware System Architect

Rolling Wireless is an international company with 20+ years of experience in developing cellular modems and software for automotive market. We are worldwide the largest 2nd Tier supplier of cellular modems to the automotive industry.

Working at Rolling Wireless is joining a multicultural team at a high-growth organisation.

We are hiring a Senior Hardware System Architect in Shenzhen.

Position / Assignment Purpose
  • Responsible for providing technical feedback of HW/RF/Mfr queries from customer RFI/RFQ
  • Drive study and POC on critical technical areas based on project needs or marketing requirements
  • Define system functional/non-functional requirements derived from product requirements with identified high-level HW architectures
  • Always be on top of technical aspects of the project:
  1. Provide full visibility, highlight issues, manage risks, and proactively look for solutions
  2. Clearly articulate options and tradeoffs and be able to make pragmatic decisions
  3. Create or review HW system design, ensure all system level considerations are taken into account
  4. Align with global teams on HW system architecture and interface consistency
  5. Review HW implementations and hands-on for some development or prototyping
  6. Troubleshoot and drive resolution of complex issues together with DEV teams
  7. Identify potential new requirements and/or enhancements, drive for implementation
  8. Collaborate between project teams, ensure platform design/implementation consistency
  • Develop testing platforms to support some new technologies exploration
  • Create, maintain and gate for customer facing technical documentations to ensure accurate technical information delivery with high quality
Required Education
  • BSEE/CS, MS will be preferred
Required Experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in embedded system development work, preferably in wireless products used especially in automotive industry, with minimum 3 years working at system architectural level
  • Hands-on experience in at least 5 of the following areas and system architectural level expertise in at least 3 of them:
  1. Wireless standards (3GPP, 3GPP2, GNSS, WIFI, BT/BLE, V2X, etc.)
  2. RF front end and Antenna design
  3. Audio HW architectures and tuning mechanisms
  4. Memory chipset solutions and memory protection technics
  5. Product security hardening technics in Automotive industry
  6. Thermal design principles and technics
  7. Advanced packaging and manufacturing techniques in Automotive industry
  • Working experience on Qualcomm or MediaTek cellular platforms is a plus
  • Experience in Automotive telematics or infotainment is a strong plus
Required Skills and Competencies
  • A thorough understanding of hardware development processes with extensive experience on embedded processor based system designs
  • Experience in low power cellular devices and all aspects of automotive modules design and trade off decision
  • Ability to work with marketing, software, testing, manufacturing and sustaining engineering teams from initial design phase through production
  • Knowledge and experience in ASPICE, ISO26262 is preferred
  • Fluent in English
