Wavecom has been selected by DENSO, a leading Japanese automotive supplier, for a major telematics program development

Wavecom SA, a leader in wireless communications solutions for automotive and industrial (machine-to-machine) applications, today announced that it has completed the pre-production phase of a joint development project for automotive telematics based on Wavecom’s wireless technology.

Wavecom provides the wireless communication module to DENSO, a leading supplier of automotive electronics to Japanese and global auto manufacturers, to support its telematics program. 

Commenting on this joint development activity, Didier Dutronc, President, Wavecom Asia-Pacific said, “In 2006 Wavecom signed a Joint Agreement for a custom module design to be integrated in to the DENSO telematic system. We are extremely honored that Wavecom has been selected by DENSO, a recognized world leader in automotive electronics to explore the telematics design and development. This design will be integrated in the telematic system and will be in production starting from 2009”. 

The current product will be implemented to support a new in-car convenience telematics program in North America. The program including SafetyConnect will appear in the market from late summer 2009.
