Staff SW Engineer

Rolling Wireless is an international company with 20+ years of experience in developing cellular modems and software for automotive market. We are worldwide the largest 2nd Tier supplier of cellular modems to the automotive industry.

We are hiring a Staff SW Engineer who will be Part of the System Engineering team. The position involves providing ,at Software level: Rolling Wireless product expertise, system integration knowledge, SW development skills and SW coordination to support one or all of our team activities : Pre Sales/ Customer support / Advanced engineering activities.

Position / Assignment Purpose
  • Support the technical part of the RFI/RFQ project along with Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Help our customers for any reported questions, issues, requirements related to Software and monitor the tasks through our database.
  • Work on Proof of Concepts (POCs) and new/advanced technology presentations in synchronization with Marketing team.
Key Accountabilities / Statement of Work

You may work on Pre Sales, Customer Project in Execution and Advanced Engineering activities. % is given as an indication of the possible workload and will balance depending on objectives : 

1. Pre-Sales activity (20-30%)

  • Perform demonstrations of features and products proposed by RWS.
  • Support questions/ requirements reported by customers in RFI/RFQ phases, liasing with Project/Sales/Marketing teams.
  • Support customers in pre-RFI/RFQ phase building their Proof of Concepts based on Rolling Wireless products. 


2. Customer Project Execution phase (50-60%)

  • Receive technical requests reported by customers, clarify the requests and identify what the real question/issue is.
  • Set pertinent reproduction scenario of the issue reported by the customer and confirm if it is customer design or RWS core platform related issue.
  • Investigate issues/questions in close collaboration with other team/R&D engineers and provide the most optimized solution to customer.
  • Communicate investigation progress at regular intervals to the Customer.
  • Provide detailed explanations to the customer of what the problem was, and which solution has been implemented.
  • Chair conference calls / meetings with different parties (R&D, Sales, Customers) to coordinate information sharing and/or improve investigation.
  • Regular reporting for SW investigations progress to internal/external interfaces and escalation to hierarchy.


3. Advanced Engineering (20-30%)

  • Return of Experience: Update/create all relevant documentation to improve customer experience and prevent future customer issues.
  • Design, develop and showcase Proof of Concepts based on Rollingw Wireless products.
  • Contribute to the continuous knowledge datatabase generation (Application Notes , videos, webinars,..) for guiding the customers with Rolling Wireless product key features / wireless technology expertise.
  • Perform workshops or/and training sessions to customer development teams.
  • Proactively self-training on new technologies that will appear/be used in our market and by our customers.

Required Experience

  • Knowledge in C / C++.
  • Knowledge in Linux distributions (Yocto environment, …), generic components (RootFS, Network/IP, …) and working environment (Github,…).
  • Knowledge in Linux bootloader/Kernel (including BSP/Drivers).
  • Knowledge in Applicative Frameworks (Legato, TelAF, TelSDK,…).
  • Overview about security and vulnerabilities of Linux systems.
  • Knowledge in telecom system (2G, 3G, 4G and 5G) and telecom specificities (TCP/IP, VolTE/VoNR , QoS, IMS, …).
  • Overview in eCall, GNSS, Wifi and CV2X solutions.
  • Skills in SW/HW investigation procedures (FTA/FA/RMA).
  • Experience working with remote teams and in an international environment.
