Staff SW Engineer

This particular position involves providing, at Software level, a Rolling Wireless (RW) product expertise, system integration knowledge, SW development skills and in SW coordination to support one or all of our team activities: customer support activities / software coordination activity / advanced engineering activities.
Position / Assignment Purpose

Support our customers for any questions, issues, requirement reported by customer and monitor them through our database

Key Accountabilities / Statement of Work

Customer support activity

  • Support questions, issues, requirement reported by customer and monitor them through our database
  • Set pertinent reproduction scenario of the issue reported by the Customer and confirm if it is Customer design or RW core platform related.
  • Investigate the issue in close collaboration with other team members or platforms development engineers to make sure the most optimised solution will be integrated for each issue reported
  • Provide detailed explanations to the Customer of what the problem was, and which solution has been implemented

Coordination activity

  • Chair conference calls / meetings with different parties (R&D, Sales, Customers) to coordinate information sharing and/or improve investigation.
  • Synchronize with Customer Program Manager and Sales the actions plan and the communication to customers
  • Communicate investigation progress at regular intervals to the Customer
  • Regular reporting for SW investigations progress and/or SW part of project to interfaces (external and internal) and escalation to hierarchy

Advanced Engineering

  • Return of Experience: Update/create all relevant documentation to prevent Customers to face similar issues in the future
  • Coordinate regularly with the team members and peers to increase the knowledge database.
  • Create application notes for guiding the customers on key features of RW products
  • Perform internal and customer training on specific features

Quality line

  • Ensure compliance with quality policy of RW
  • Contribute to quality and way of working improvements
Required Experience
  • Knowledge in C, C++ or JAVA development
  • Knowledge in embedded Linux integration (Yocto environment, GitHub….),
  • Knowledge in Linux system and generic components (RootFS, Network/IP, USB composition)
  • Knowledge in Linux bootloader/Kernel (including BSP/Driver)
  • Knowledge about security and vulnerabilities of Linux system
  • Knowledge in telecom system (2G, 3G and 4G) •Knowledge in telecom specificities (SMS, TCP/IP, VolTE, QoS, IMS, …)
  • Experience and autonomy in issues investigation/resolution
  • Skills in issues debugging
  • Skills in HW investigation procedure (FTA/FA/RMA)
  • Skills in documentation writing/review
  • Synthesis mind, and reporting skills
  • Customer communication and management
  • English communication
Required Skills and Competencies

Desired skills include:

  • Overall view of the embedded Linux system architecture and its advantages and constraints
  • Knowledge in hardware platforms and wireless peripherals (CAN, UART, SUB, SPI, I2C, ….)
  • Knowledge in telecom specificities (SMS, TCP/IP, VolTE, QoS, IMS, …)
  • Knowledge in eCall adn ERA Glonass solutions
  • Knowledge in GNSS solution
  • Environment Legato Application Framework
