Software Project Manager

Rolling Wireless is an international company with 20+ years of experience in developing cellular modems and software for automotive market. We are worldwide the largest 2nd Tier supplier of cellular modems to the automotive industry.

We are hiring a Software Project Manager, part of the System Engineering team, the position involves providing, at Software level, a Rolling Wireless product expertise, system integration knowledge, SW development skills and in SW coordination to support one or all of our team activities: Pre Sales/ Customer support / Software project management / advanced engineering. She/He participates in the execution phase in synchronization with Customer Program Manager and internal support and R&D teams. She/He supports Quality after SOP to manage PCN, FA, ... related to Software.

Position / Assignment Purpose
  • Support the technical part of the RFI/RFQ project in support of Sales and Marketing,
  • Help our customers for any reported questions, issues, requirements related to Software and monitor the tasks through our database,
  • Work on PoC and/or Technology presentation in synchronization with Marketing.
Key Accountabilities / Statement of Work

The SPM may work on Pre Sales and/or Customer Project in Execution. A percentage is given as an indication of the possible workload and will balance depending on objectives.

1 Pre Sales (20-40%) :

  • Support the Customer Project Manager/Sales/Marketing and/or Sales in RFI/RFQ phases
  • Be ready to present the Software roadmap, perform Rolling Wireless demos
  • Foster and develop a positive working relationship with technical stakeholders at prospects/customers to get information on new projects

2 Execution Phase (60%-40%) :

  • Be with the Customer Program Manager the customer voice within the company and the company’s voice to the customer
  • Synchronize with the Customer Program Manager the actions plan and the communication to customers for SW part
  • Chair regular conference calls / meetings with customer interfaces to coordinate SW part of the project
  • Chair regular conference calls / meetings with internal stakeholders to coordinate SW part of the project
  • Support the questions, issues, requirements, and other issues related to SW project reported by customer and monitor them through our database
  • Lead investigation or investigate the issue in close collaboration with other team members or platforms development engineers to make sure the most optimized solution will be integrated for each issue reported
  • Provide detailed explanations to the Customer of what the problem was, and which solution has been implemented
  • Regularly report the SW part of project to interfaces (external and internal) and escalation to direct hierarchy and high-level managers

3 Advanced engineering (20%) :

Under the responsibility of the SE Directors, and in synchronization with Marketing, the SPM can :

  • Handle specific demo, PoC, document,
  • Create application notes for guiding the customers on key features of Rolling Wireless products and/or features on wireless technology,
  • Perform internal and customer training on specific features,
  • Do self-training proactively on new technologies that will appear/be used in our market and by our customers.

Required Education

Engineering degree

Required Experience

  • 7+ years experience in embedded projects
  • Experience in project management (transversal management)
  • Experience working with remote teams and in an international environment
  • Customer-oriented and collaboration mindset
  • English mandatory

Required Skills and Competencies

Technical skills:

  • Overview in Linux system (Yocto environment, GitHub…) and generic components (RootFS, Network/IP, …)
  • Overview about security and vulnerabilities of Linux system
  • Knowledge in telecom system (2G, 3G and 4G), and in telecom specificities (SMS, TCP/IP, VolTE, QoS, IMS, …)
  • Overview in eCall and GNSS solutions
  • Skills in SW/HW investigation procedures (FTA/FA/RMA)
  • Experience and autonomy in issues investigation/resolution 

Project Management skills:

  • Organized, rigorous
  • Good skills in documentation writing/review
  • Skills and capabilities in coordination and allocation of software tasks for support/development within a team of SW engineers
  • Experience with SW quality processes to ensure best practices usages
  • Synthesis mind, and reporting skills
